Brazil 2027 Schedule Revealed: Why Rio Is the Place to Experience the Women’s World Cup

The 2027 Women’s World Cup is coming into focus – and for those planning to experience it with Global Sports Experiences, the latest announcement makes Rio de Janeiro an even more exciting place to be.
The official tournament schedule has now been released, confirming nine World Cup matches at the Maracanã, including Brazil’s opening match, six group-stage games, a quarterfinal, semifinal and the World Cup Final.
For GSE travelers, that means our Women’s World Cup Brazil Experience in Rio de Janeiro will be based in a city that isn’t simply hosting the tournament – it will be at the center of it.
Brazil. Opening Day. The Maracanã.
There are few ways to experience a World Cup more authentically than being in the host city when the home nation kicks it all off.
On June 24, 2027, Brazil will open the Women’s World Cup at the Maracanã, bringing the energy of a home World Cup directly to Rio.
Brazil is already confirmed in Group A, with its opponent to be determined at the official draw on December 11. From there, the Seleção will travel to São Paulo and Brasília for its remaining group matches.
For guests joining GSE in Rio, however, the experience extends far beyond the 90 minutes on the field.
Our program is designed around experiencing soccer in Brazil: staying in Copacabana, exploring Rio, visiting the Maracanã, experiencing the FIFA Fan Festival atmosphere and getting on the field through training and local soccer activities.
Now, we know that all of that will unfold in a city preparing to welcome Brazil onto the World Cup stage.
Nine Matches Give Rio a Front-Row Seat to the Tournament
The schedule also confirms just how significant Rio will be throughout Brazil 2027.
The Maracanã will host:
• June 24: Group A — Brazil vs. TBD
• June 26: Group D
• June 30: Group C
• July 3: Group G
• July 5: Group B
• July 7: Group F
• July 16: Quarterfinal
• July 21: Semifinal
• July 25: World Cup Final
That is six group-stage matches from six different groups, followed by three of the biggest knockout matches of the tournament.

The official draw on December 11 will determine which nations are placed into Groups A through H. Once those groups are known, we will also know which international stars and national teams could be heading to the Maracanã.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the newly released schedule is the range of World Cup moments that will happen in one city.
On June 24, the Maracanã will welcome Brazil and officially open the tournament.
On July 16, it will host a World Cup quarterfinal.
On July 21, a semifinal.
And on July 25, the next Women’s World Cup champion will be crowned at the Maracanã.
That Final will also make history. The Maracanã is set to become only the third stadium to host both a men’s and women’s World Cup Final.
For travelers considering Brazil 2027, Rio therefore offers something few World Cup destinations can: the opportunity to experience the tournament from its opening celebration through its biggest knockout stages and ultimately its final moment.
