The Surf Cup International once again set the stage for an incredible display of soccer talent and cultural exchange, taking place on the picturesque Costa Daurada. Over 180 teams from 26 countries and six continents participated, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of competition and camaraderie.

“Our goal is to connect players globally through the game of football,” shared Tommaso Trevisan, Tournament Director. This mission was fully realized as teams from diverse backgrounds came together to compete, share experiences, and celebrate their shared love for the game.

Beyond the Soccer Pitch

While soccer was the main attraction, teams were treated to a variety of extracurricular activities that showcased the vibrant culture of the region. Players and their families explored PortAventura Park, indulged in wine tasting tours, and participated in world-class clinics at the International Development Academy or with FC Barcelona. The excitement continued as over 700 attendees had the opportunity to watch FC Barcelona compete in the UEFA Champions League.

A Grand Opening and Intense Competition

The event kicked off with an action-packed opening ceremony, setting the tone for four days of thrilling matches. Teams battled for supremacy in their respective divisions, with champions crowned across multiple age groups.

This October, Global Sports Experiences hosted an extraordinary EPL Fan Experience in Manchester, UK, giving fans the opportunity to dive into the heart of English football with exclusive access to iconic stadiums, unforgettable matches, and the vibrant city culture of Manchester. Here’s a look back at this unique journey.

The group’s accommodations in central Manchester set the perfect tone for the trip. Guests enjoyed the convenience of a 4-star hotel near the famous Arndale Shopping Center and the lively Printworks district, known for its array of dining, pubs, entertainment, and nearby landmarks like the Manchester Arena, National Football Museum, and historic Manchester Cathedral.

A major highlight of the trip was the exclusive, behind-the-scenes tours of two legendary stadiums. At Old Trafford—the storied home of Manchester United—the group had a private guide to lead them through the club’s rich history. At the Etihad Stadium, the group got an exclusive look at the executive area where the players arrive before the game. One attendee shared, “My favorite part, besides being dazzled by the pitch and stands, was the Locker Room at Etihad, the real locker room where our favorite players get dressed for the game! We walked down the mirrored steps that the players use to enter the pitch.”

The matchday experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Fans attended Manchester United’s game with exclusive hospitality access at the club’s famous Museum, enjoying complimentary drinks and a variety of food options before and after the game. The next day, the group headed to the Molineux Stadium for Wolves’ face-off with Manchester City, securing seats right behind the goal. “Nick Dunbar of Global Sports Experiences did a fabulous job in getting the hospitality tickets for this match,” a guest remarked. “We walked straight from the gift shop to the stadium, and security was easier due to the smaller number of people at other gates.” Once inside, they enjoyed the top-tier hospitality suite overlooking the field, as another fan noted, “We were one of the first people into the hospitality suite, which takes up most of the area on the goal line, giving us a second-level view right over the field.”

Beyond Manchester, fans ventured to Liverpool for the “Magical Mystery Tour,” a two-hour journey exploring Beatles landmarks, including a visit to the iconic Cavern Club. To cap off the Liverpool experience, fans toured Anfield, Liverpool FC’s world-renowned stadium, walking in the footsteps of legends in this cathedral of football.

The Royal Pre-season Cup 2024, held at the prestigious Bradfield College, delivered an exciting weekend of youth soccer, showcasing the talents of over 40 teams across various age groups. The tournament brought together a diverse mix of players and teams, offering a unique blend of competitive action and cultural experiences.

Teams:

The competition across all age groups was intense, with standout performances that thrilled spectators. The tournament’s format allowed for some incredible matchups, leading to memorable final matches in each category.

Champions:

The level of play across the tournament was exceptional, with the boys’ teams showcasing strong grassroots talent. The U14 and U16 girls’ teams delivered dominant performances, particularly the Surf Select girls, who displayed remarkable skill and teamwork.

The Royal Pre-season Cup wasn’t just about soccer; it was also an opportunity for players and their families to explore the rich history and culture of the UK. Off-field activities, including visits to historic sites and cultural tours, were well-received and added to the overall experience.

The event staff, led by Neil Holloway, worked tirelessly to ensure the tournament ran smoothly. The support from the coaching and administrative staff, along with the excellent service provided by the bus drivers and college staff, contributed to a positive and well-organized event.

The IDA BH Cup has firmly established itself as one of the most prestigious youth soccer tournaments in Brazil and across the globe. Celebrating its 16th edition in 2024, the tournament has a rich history dating back to its inception in 2005. Over the years, the BH Cup has been a stage for emerging talent, hosting not only top clubs from around the world but also national teams, including the Brazilian National Team. Notably, players like Vini Jr have graced this tournament, making it a significant milestone in the careers of many future stars.

The 2024 Edition: A Global Gathering

The 2024 BH Cup saw participation from 12 elite teams, including six first-division clubs: Surf Select-USA, Cruzeiro-MG, Atlético-MG, América-MG, Athletico-PR, Grêmio-RS, Cuiabá-MT, Red Bull Bragantino-SP, Athletic-MG, Coimbra-MG, Boston City-MG, and OVT Academy-ES. The matches were held at the prestigious Toca da Raposa I, Cruzeiro’s official youth training center, which has a storied history of developing world-class talent. Players like Ronaldo (R9), Maicon, Belletti, Gomes, Maxwell, and Vitor Roque, all honed their skills at this iconic venue. Moreover, the Brazilian National Team used this facility to prepare for the 1982 and 1986 World Cups.

Champions and Highlights

In a highly competitive tournament, Athletico-PR emerged as the champions, with Red Bull Bragantino finishing as runners-up. As a reward, Athletico-PR earned a coveted spot in the Surf Cup in Salou, continuing a tradition where last year’s champions, Atlético-MG, went on to clinch the title in Spain as well. The tournament was a hub of scouting activity, with representatives from the Brazilian National Team, top-tier Brazilian and European clubs, and scouts from Nike and Adidas in attendance.

Cultural and Recreational Experiences

Beyond the soccer field, the Surf Select players and their families immersed themselves in the rich culture of Belo Horizonte. Their itinerary included visits to the Traditional Central Market, a city tour of Belo Horizonte, and a memorable tour of the Mineirão Stadium, known for hosting the 2014 World Cup semifinal. They also enjoyed a traditional Brazilian barbecue, a fun day at a social club with pools and sports facilities, and sampled the famous cuisine of Minas Gerais, considered one of Brazil’s best. A highlight of the trip was the visit to Ouro Preto, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offering a glimpse into Brazil’s colonial history.

On the Pitch

The Surf Select team had a challenging schedule, playing three tournament matches against top-tier competition: Athletico-PR, the eventual champions, Cruzeiro-MG, and Cuiabá-MT. Prior to the tournament, they held two training sessions and a friendly match against OVT Academy-ES. After the tournament, they played two additional friendlies against OVT Academy-ES and Cruzeiro-MG, gaining invaluable experience and showcasing their talent against some of Brazil’s best youth teams.

The IDA BH Cup 2024 was a resounding success, offering young players an opportunity to compete at the highest level while experiencing the vibrant culture of Brazil. As the tournament continues to grow in prestige, it remains a key event for scouts and clubs worldwide, solidifying its reputation as a cradle for the next generation of soccer stars.

ASA Juventus Elite 2009, a talented soccer team from Baltimore, USA, that has experienced a remarkable journey over the past year. Their participation in the Surf Cup International in Salou 2023 played a pivotal role in their progress, ultimately helping them reach the semifinals of the USYS Eastern Regionals, USYS National League Division 1 Champions, MD State Cup Champions, and achieve a nationwide ranking of 95th in the USA.

In the summer of 2023, ASA Juventus Elite 2009 traveled to Salou, Spain, to compete in the prestigious Surf Cup International. This tournament presented a challenging lineup, featuring matches against professional clubs such as Celta de Vigo, Nastic de Tarragona, and the Norwegian side Tromsø IL. The competition was fierce, but ASA Juventus Elite 2009 demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, securing the Silver Bracket title.

Under the expert guidance of coaches Pat Hulede and Joe Walker, the team displayed an excellent style of football. Coach Pat expressed his pride in the team’s performance, stating, “The boys had a great experience at Surf Cup International, Salou 2023, and absolutely loved it. They also become better players over the week in Salou.”

The experience of facing high-caliber international opponents helped ASA Juventus Elite 2009 refine their skills and strengthen their resolve. This growth was evident as they progressed through the ranks of the USYS National League Pro League.

From April 17th to 20th, young soccer talents from around the world will compete fiercely for the coveted title, making this an event to remember.

The tournament will see boys and girls in the U9 to U12 age groups showcasing their skills and passion for the game. Each team will participate in three group matches, followed by a knockout stage, with all games consisting of 25-minute halves. Groups are guaranteed to have on professional academy per group and 4 games minimum. Professional academies include: FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia, PSG, Benfica, Villarreal, and more!

Valencia, renowned for its vibrant culture and stunning coastline, will serve as the perfect backdrop for this exciting event. Participants and spectators alike can look forward to an unforgettable experience, both on and off the field.
